The world of Retailing landscape is changing more than ever. The customer experience is more important both in the store and on the Retailer’s website. Most customers seem to choose buying from either way if they receive the most personable, timely and up to date information. Researchers have shown this to be the most important to all Retailing.

Second most important is the cloud-based system. Small to medium sized retailers are often nimbler and aren’t typically tied down to large, complicated legacy systems that are in a great position to switch to unified commerce technologies-tying in store, website, and mobile devices, further validation that cloud based adoption in increasing.

Leveraging the cloud makes it faster and easier for consumers and retailers to access all aspects of buying, selling, reporting and all customer records across all methods of selling. The ability to have customer’s being able to look up their purchases on mobile devices and websites is also part of the new retail landscape.

Lastly, an important aspect to the new retail landscape is data mining. This is the ability to see buying patterns of customers and “teeing up” a new sale either with an item that is of the same or similar to an item already sold. Biometrics and artificial intelligence is also starting to take place in guiding in store experiences.
